Tres

Atlanta United hasn't strung together three consecutive wins all season. Sunday against a reeling Sporting KC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, they get the chance.

Matchday Mood: Hungry.

Two wins don't make a season. But they can make a feeling.

Atlanta United returns to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday to face Sporting Kansas City, and for the first time in 2026, there's something unfamiliar in the air around this club: momentum. Back-to-back victories — the first consecutive wins since May — have shifted the energy from endurance to possibility.

SKC arrives wounded. Bottom of the Western Conference, one win from their last six matches, conceding at a rate north of two goals per outing. Their defensive structure has been leaking all summer long. If there's a fixture on the calendar designed to extend a run, this is the one.

And then there's Muyumba. Three consecutive matches with a goal. A midfielder who had two goals in 81 regular-season appearances before this extraordinary stretch suddenly looks like a different player entirely. The positional freedom Henderson gave him after Latte Lath's departure to Union Berlin isn't just a tactical adjustment anymore. It's a transformation — and MLS is taking notice, with back-to-back matchday honors to prove it.

Nobody's talking playoffs. Not honestly. Six points below the line with fourteen matches remaining is still a mountain. But three straight wins would be something this squad hasn't achieved all season. It would be proof that the flashes — los destellos — aren't random. That they connect into something sustained.

Sunday. The Benz. Make it tres.

The Tilt

If this Muyumba run doesn't start the armband conversation, nothing will.
