The ghost in the room is Emmanuel Latte Lath. Record-setting $22 million transfer. Eleven goals in 48 matches. Now on loan in the Bundesliga because the most expensive signing in MLS history couldn't finish.

That's $40 million on DP strikers in eighteen months. For a team sitting 12th in the East.

Here's what nobody is saying: the three-game win streak -- first in five years, nine points in nine days -- happened without Embolo. Tomas Jacob scored. Fafa Picault scored. The team found something through hunger and chemistry, not a checkbook.

Maybe Embolo is the accelerant. World Cup quarterfinals. Chose Atlanta when he could have gone to England. Rejected the "holiday" label. The resume is legitimate.

Or maybe he's the $18 million disruption to the only thing that's worked since 2021.

The smartest bet in Atlanta right now isn't the signing. It's the streak. And the streak doesn't know Embolo's name yet.
